How do I know when someone cheats?

Unfortunately there are a number of online cheats that are sometimes used by dishonourable players. In my opinion multiplayer cheats and cheaters destroy the feeling of honour and respect that S:TW in a particular way provides thanks to its background history.

This document will take a look at the various cheats and how to know when a person is cheating. Of course, even if I had the knowledge, I will not give any information on how to use them and from where they derive. I will explain the two most notorious cheats in multiplayer:

Rout Cheat

This cheat is surely the most evident to see but tricky to define. This cheat routes enemy units, even if they are fresh and high honour. It's not the first time that for example fresh monks just routed for nothing. But I must note strictly that a bug in the game, called the autorout, also spontaneously routes units. This bug is rather rare to occur. The difference between these two is simple.

Rout cheat- cheat inserted by cheater- routes enemy units

Autorout- game bug which rarely occurs- routs units which are effected by autorout

Therefore, the autorout is a game bug and no-one is responsible for it.

Normally autorout happens before hand to hand battle is being held.

Koku cheat

The koku cheat gives the cheater a larger amount of koku (money) than the amount allotted by the host of the game. Thus in the unit selection screen the cheater has more money to spend on his unit selection. Therefore the cheater would have a considerably bigger, mightier, high-honoured army.

This cheat is very evident as well. If you see your enemy with sixteen monks all with honour nine, then he is cheating. You can also confirm the cheating accuse by looking at the log file of the respective game and the information given on the cheating suspect.

If his spent koku is larger than the allotted koku, your suspects are confirmed.

Probably there is a number of other cheats but the rout cheat and the koku cheat are the two most widely used. If you encounter a cheater put him on your own personal blacklist and/or give him privately to your friends/clan. Remember that cheaters' names posting is strictly forbidden in both the community forum and the Sword Dojo. Also remember that accusing anyone anywhere of cheating without real proof is surely not honourable.
